About Us

Born and raised in the close-knit community of Mannville, Alberta, Alan and Valerie Mytz have built a life deeply rooted in family, hard work, and a passion for horses. Together, they raised three children, instilling in them the same values of dedication, integrity, and respect for the land and livestock.

Alan has spent decades refining his horse training philosophy, believing that a good foundation is built with pressure, patience, and consistency. By developing a horse’s confidence and willingness through clear communication and trust, he ensures that each one becomes a dependable partner—whether on the ranch or in the arena. Valerie’s support and dedication to their operation, along with her keen eye for quality horses, have been instrumental in shaping their breeding and training program.

Through their shared commitment to raising athletic, intelligent, and well-rounded Quarter Horses, Alan and Valerie continue to uphold the honest, hardworking values that have defined their journey from the start.

Our Story

CloValley Stock Farm began in 1972 when Fred Mytz established the farm with a focus on raising Simmental cattle. The rolling pastures and hardworking values that shaped the farm’s early days laid the foundation for what would eventually grow into a renowned Quarter Horse breeding program.

In 1981, Alan joined the family farming operation, bringing with him a passion for horses. That same year, he purchased his first Quarter Horse mare, marking the beginning of a journey that would shape CloValley Stock Farm into what it is today. With a deep respect for the working horse, Alan set out to build a program centered around athleticism, intelligence, and cow sense—qualities essential for both ranch work and competition.

Over the years, Alan has carefully refined his selection of genetics, always striving to improve the quality, versatility, and performance of each horse produced. Built on the core values of honesty and integrity, CloValley Stock Farm stands apart by offering horses that are not only talented and trainable but also bred with purpose. Today, CloValley remains committed to producing top-tier cow horses, carrying on the tradition that started with a single mare and a vision for excellence.
